Alexandros Lykourezos was born in Athens. He studied Law at the Law School of the University of Athens and continued to pursue his post-graduate studies in Germany, at the University of Heidelberg on a German scholarship specializing in Criminal Law and Philosophy of Law. He also followed post-graduate studies at University College of London.
Since 1961 he has practiced law in Greece as the head of Lykourezos Law Offices. His law practice was interrupted briefly for seven years, from 1967 to 1974, when as a result of the dictatorship in Greece, he moved to Paris and London in self-exile. Lykourezos Law Offices has established a long lasting tradition in Greece and abroad. Since 1910, it has maintained a leading position amongst Greek and European law firms. Alexandros Lykourezos carries on the tradition that his father and his grandfather before him, left behind. This tradition has its roots not only in the legal field but extends to the political arena too. His grandfather and his father were both elected as members of parliament and served as ministers in various governments. Alexandros, himself, has served as a member of parliament during the period 2000 - 2003 for the Athens district.
Lykourezos Law Offices enjoys expertise in a wide array of legal fields (Criminal Law, White Collar Crime, Commercial and Corporate, Mergers and Acquisitions, Privatization, Banking, International Investments, Law of Contracts, International Arbitration, Civil Law and Litigation, Telecommunications etc). Initially, the firm's practice was focused primarily on criminal litigation cases in Greece and Europe.
