Attica Bank was founded in 1925 but it started its operations in 1964 as a subsidiary of the Emporiki Bank Group. It was listed on the Athens Stock Exchange on 2/6/1964. On 26/6/1997 Emporiki transferred part of its shares to the Engineers' and Public Works Contractors Pension Fund (TSMEDE) through the Stock Exchange, keeping a 17% that was transferred to the Greek Postal Savings Bank until September 2002.
