The Special Secretariat of Privatisations was established under the law 3049/2002. Central aim is government policy implementation at the field of privatization State Owned Companies.
Interministirial Privitisation Committee defines the privitisation programme and takes the relevant political decisions. Hereupon the Special Secretariat of Privatisations assumes the responsibility to plan and coordinate the appropriate activities to implement it.
In order to achieve its goals the Secretariat has recruited the congruent personnel as well as world acclaimed independent consultants in the field of finance and legal advice.

- Coordinates the implementation Interministirial Privatisation Committee decisions
- Deals with practical issues that spring up during privatization process.
- Monitors the privatization process and the engaged parties (i.e. financial and legal consultants, privatized entity, and other parties) and co-ordinates their activities.
Co-operation between the Special Secretariat and the privatized entity is necessary in order to implement successfully the privatization process as well as other parties like the Greek Stock Market, the attentive ministry or any other body that represents the state.
Finally the Special Secretariat of Privatisations attends the world trends regarding privatizations, methods, practices mainly within European borders as well as communicates - co-operates with world organizations (i.e. OECD).
