UBS Investment Bank, Greek coverage

UBS has been covering the Greek market with a dedicated team based out of London for the last 10 years. During this time we have led a number of important, complex and groundbreaking transactions including:

  • the first ever exchangeable bond (joint global co-ordinator in the €896m bond offering by the Hellenic Republic exchangeable into NBG shares, June 1999)
  • the first ever securitisation (joint structuring adviser and bookrunner in the €650m securitisation of the national lottery future receivables, December 2000)
  • the first ever contested take-over defence (adviser to Ergobank in relation to the US$2.2bn unsolicited partial tender offer made by Consolidated Eurofinance Holdings, August 1999)
  • the biggest ever private sector IPO (sole global co-ordinator in the US$695m IPO of Panafon, November 1998)
Most recently, we led the secondary sale of shares in ATEbank (€328 million, May 2006) which followed the very successful €1.25 billion recapitalisation of ATEbank and re-launch of its investment case, completed in July 2005. We currently manage the dedicated Greek team together with the Central and Eastern European team given the increasing focus of Greek corporates and banks in the CEE region.

Our Greek equity research analysts have been ranked No. 1 for a number of years by both Extel and Institutional Investor surveys, acknowledging our depth of understanding and knowledge of the Greek market.
