John Papathanassiou
Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy
In September 2007, John Papathanassiou was appointed Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy. Prior to that, since March 2004, he was Deputy Minister of Development, responsible for Trade issues. He is a Member of Parliament since 2000.
Born in Athens in 1954, he graduated from the Greek-German school and studied electric engineering at the Technical University of Athens.
He was President and Managing Director of the firm "J.D. Papathanassiou S.A." until 31-12-02.
From 1982 until 2000 he held several positions at the Athens Chamber of Commerce & Industry

- 1988-2000, President
In 1992-1993, he was Vice President of Public Gas Enterprises and in 1991-1992 he was advisor of the Minister of Commerce Industry and Energy.
He is married to Ileana Iliopoulou and has two daughters.
