General Secretariat of Information
The General Secretariat of Information is responsible for the international communications strategy of Greece. In recent years, Greece has undergone a significant transformation that made her a key exporter and economic player in Southeast Europe, in sectors like energy, shipping, transportation, goods and services. Thanks to its political stability of decades, Greece has evolved into a beacon of growth and peace in a region of 160 million people, extending from Southeast Europe to the Black Sea.
It is the General Secretariat's mission to communicate these developments and promote Greece to the world either through its Press & Communication Offices in 33 countries across all continents, or through appropriate communication tools such as online daily news bulletins, publications, special events etc.
In parallel, the General Secretariat of Information collects and analyzes news reports in print and electronic media that relate to Greece, as well as those of general interest. In addition, it is responsible for handling film permits, sets up Press Centers and provides Greek and international journalists and media with all the necessary services and facilities to assist them with their work. Moreover, it is the Secretariat's task to organize and facilitate media missions accompanying the President of the Hellenic Republic, the Prime Minister and government officials on their visits abroad.
