Mr. Tassos Philippakos is the Chief Executive Officer and Member of Board of Directors of the Hellenic Aerospace Industry S.A. (HAI) and also a Member of the Board of HAI's affiliate Hellas Sat Consortium.
Prior to his appointment as CEO of HAI, Mr. Philippakos held key positions at Moody's Investor Service in New York for about 22 years as a Senior Vice President for the period 1997- 2004, Vice President (1989-1997), Assistant Vice President (1985-1989) and Senior Analyst (1982-1985). In the performance of his duties he worked in close co-operation with a large number of aerospace companies worldwide including, among others, Aerospatiale, Airbus, BAE Systems, Boeing, Bombardier, EADS, Embraer, Finmeccanica, Fokker, Israel Aircraft Industries, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, Rolls Royce, Rover, Siemens, Singapore Technologies, Thales, TSA, United Technologies, etc.
Before 1982, Mr. Philippakos worked at Merril Lynch Co., Inc., as a Securities Analyst, the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company as an Investments Analyst and at the Bank of Crete in Athens as an Executive in the Directorate Issuing of Corporate Loans.
Mr. Philippakos is a member of the New York Society of Security Analysts, the Aerospace Analysts of New York, the Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, the National Management Honor Society Sigma Iota Epsilon, the Executive Advisory Body of St. John's University and the International Institute of Strategic Studies.
He was a Member of the Board of Directors and at the Audit Committee of the Atlantic Bank of New York from 1992 to 1996. He was also a Member of Board of Directors of NAP Inc. between 1992 to 2002.
He was the Chairman of the Board of the Hellenic-American Bankers Association for eight years. Also a Member of the Board of Greek-American Cosmos FM Radio, a non-for-profit organization, since 1995 and Chairman of BOD from 1999 to 2000.
Mr. Philippakos has taught Financial Management at Hunter College in New York, at Alba Laboratory of Business Administration in Athens, Greece and as well as at City University of New York. He has been a recipient of the "Successful Analyst" award by the "Institutional Investor Magazine" for five consecutive years, from 1994 to 1998. He was invited to offer his advice on Defense Industry related matters on many occasions by top officials of the U.S. Ministry of Defense. He was a speaker in various forums on international economic issues and many of his positions were published in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Boston Globe, Business Week, The Economist, Financial Times, and other foreign and greek publications. He also appeared on radio stations and television channels including CNBC, CNN-FNN, BBC, KOMO, and the Greek Mega Channel and Hellenic State Television.
Mr. Tassos Philippakos was born in the city of Gythion Lakonias. He graduated from the Economic University of Athens (A.S.O.E.E.) and completed his academic studies at the Baruch College of the City University of New York where he received his MBA in Finance and Investments.
