was founded in 1983. The Company constitutes the main arm of the Ministry of Health and Social Solidarity for the materialization of complex health infrastructure projects mostly with the turn-key concept and the provision of specialized advisory. During the past 25 years the Company has accumulated significant specialized experience and know-how in project management of complex projects since:

  • it has successfully delivered to date 13 large scale hospital projects (University and General Hospitals) all over, while

Construction Activity

Currently, the Company is implementing about 120 projects of a total budget of over € 1.5 billion. These projects refer to a broad range of activities, such as:
  • Development and construction of Hospitals,
  • Development and construction of Primary Healthcare Units,
  • Renovation and upgrading of existing health and social solidarity infrastructure, and
  • Supply of medical equipment.
Innovative Activities

Further to the conventional methods, DEPANOM is implementing 3 new hospital projects under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) method of a total estimated budget of about € 900 million (i.e. the Children Hospital of Thessaloniki, the Oncological Hospital of Thessaloniki, and the New General Hospital of Preveza) while a number of new PP projects referring to infrastructure and provision of services are compiled.

In parallel, DEPANOM is a main arm of implementing tenders (for the procurement of medical equipment and various services) of the newly established National Health Procurement Committee. This new Committee is a major innovation in the field of public health economics aiming at the efficient allocation of resources.

Environmental Policy

In the context of the environmental policy of the Ministry of Health and Social Solidarity, all projects implemented by DEPANOM take advantage of the renewable energy sources, also using up to date bioclimatic applications and incorporate innovative building management systems. Furthermore, DEPANOM is planning to install systems for the co-production of electricity and heat using natural gas in five (5) major hospitals in Athens. It is estimated that on an annual basis these systems will contribute significantly in the quality of the environment by reducing CO2 by 54,000 tons and by saving over € 2 million from the 5 hospitals and 9.8 MW from the national electricity network.
