MJLF is the heir to a 185 year old maritime tradition. Charles Mallory is the latest link in a six generation chain that began Christmas Day in 1816 - just 40 years into the life of the young North American Nation. Less than a year later the first Charles Mallory was employed as an apprentice repairing sails; in the pioneering spirit of the time soon created his own business with the aid of partners; his name became synonymous with all aspects of the maritime industry - building, banking, brokering, ironworks, ownership as well as the family origins, sailmaking.

Today, MJLF is still a pioneer. Yes, we are in the forefront of traditional brokerage services - experts in executing vessel chartering, insuring the all important post fixture operations, concluding sales & purchase transactions, co-developing projects with clients as well as providing industry research & analysis. However, it's the innovative lead that MJLF has traditionally assumed that has and will continue to maintain our differentiation. It is an adherence to the ethics of yesteryear and the entrepreneurial spirit that has characterized this nation since its' beginnings. The same efforts that were connected to whaling and clipper ships are now a part of industry standard deepwater drill ships and purpose built shuttle tankers. The innovation that helped introduce ironclad vessels to the maritime world 150 years ago has, in the current age, opened the door for marine focused project development, tanker derivatives, and is now helping lead the industry into e-commerce.
