Socrates Leptos-Bourgi, Chartered Accountant (ICAEW), is the Shipping & Ports Coordinator of the PricewaterhouseCoopers global network. He is a partner in the Assurance department of the firm in Greece and the Greek territory Shipping Industry Leader and Energy & Utilities Industry Leader. He heads the Piraeus office of the firm which specialises exclusively in the provision of services to the shipping industry. Socrates joined the Assurance department of PwC in 1998 in Greece and had subsequently been involved in the establishment of the Transaction Services department in Greece, where he spent 4 years before returning to Assurance in 2006. During this period, Socrates has gained experience primarily in the financial services and oil & gas industries and has advised clients on a number of transactions in the Greek territory and abroad. Since his return to the Assurance department in 2006, Socrates has been heading the Piraeus office of the firm and focusing on the shipping industry and was appointed Global Shipping & Ports Coordinator in January 2009. Socrates works with both privately owned companies, as well as companies listed on the international capital markets, advising on a number of different transactions (including IPOs, mergers & acquisitions, restructurings etc.)
