Guy Verberne studied economics at Erasmus University Rotterdam. From 1989 to 1993, he was employed at the Dutch Ministry of Finance as an advisor on macro-economic and budgetary policy. He then joined MeesPierson Capital Management N.V., where he worked as a senior portfolio manager on the fixed-income team. In August 1997 he became Chief Economist at MeesPierson Investment Bank. Following the integration of MeesPierson into the newly created Fortis Bank in 1999, he became Head of Economics within Fortis Bank/Merchant Banking. In July 2010, he was appointed Head of Investment Strategy within ABN AMRO/Markets. In this role, he is responsible for advising the bank's clients on the asset allocation in their investment portfolios, taking into account economic, institutional, and technical factors.
