Jake Russell

Dr. Jake Russell currently serves as an Fellow at the Advanced Research Projects Agency – Energy (ARPA-E), the Department of Energy’s high-risk, high-reward funding arm. His interests include maritime decarbonization, ocean power systems, materials for improved electrical transport, and land use for energy infrastructure. Jake earned his Ph.D. in materials chemistry from Columbia University, supported through the National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate (NDSEG) Fellowship program. Prior to joining ARPA-E, Russell served as a Senior Fellow with Columbia Technology Ventures, where he aided academic inventors in assessing the commercialization potential of their technologies. Jake also earned a B.S. in chemistry and a minor in molecular engineering from the University of Chicago.
