Laurence Ward Odfjell has been Chair of Odfjell SE since 2010. He is a member of the founding family of the 110-year-old company and holds a Master of Architecture degree from Yale University. The Odfjell Group is one of the world leaders in the global market for seaborne transportation and storage of chemicals and other specialty bulk liquids. The company employs around 2300 people at sea and ashore, and operates 70 advanced chemical tankers. The terminal division consists of four tank terminals located in key chemical storage hubs in the US, Asia and Europe. Odfjell is headquartered in Bergen, Norway, and has 12 offices worldwide, including Singapore.

Laurence is passionate about shipowners’ responsibility to decarbonize and take actions to lower the industry’s climate footprint. Odfjell has over the past decade reduced the intensity of carbon emissions of its fleet by 53% through a range of initiatives. The company will be one of the first to install suction sails on one of its chemical tankers during 1H25.
