Olaf Doerk Head of Maritime Advisory at DNV Olaf Doerk graduated from the University of Hamburg in 1998 in naval architecture. After five years of theoretical and experimental research work at the University of Hamburg, he received his doctor degree in 2004. Afterwards he started his work at TÜV NORD as an expert for fatigue and fracture assessment of nuclear power plants. Since 2007, he has been employed at DNV in the Department Structures of the Maritime Advisory Services, mainly performing strength, fatigue strength and fracture mechanics investigations of all kinds of global and local ship structures. Beside this he has been involved in leading roles in several joint industry projects and national as well as European founded research projects and IACS projects teams. After holding the positions as Head of Department Structures in Maritime Advisory and Regional Head of DNV Maritime Advisory West Europe he currently holds the position as Head of Advisory Center Hamburg in the 2022 established independent business unit DNV Maritime Advisory
