Oliver Faak
Partner & Head of Europe

Oliver joined in 2018 and leads our European region. He has an extensive network of international shipping companies, investors as well as top shipping banks. He brings over 26 years of experience in Shipping and Transportation Finance, large scale Structured Finance and Transportation deal origination.

Prior to Transport Capital, Oliver was the Global Head of Ship & Aircraft Finance at Norddeutsche Landesbank Hanover (2011 to late 2018), where he was responsible for a loan portfolio close to EUR 20 billion, had authority for 1st credit votes of up to EUR 100 million, and was a member of relevant Committees and Project Steering Groups.

From 2009 to 2010, he was Head of Transport & Export Finance at DekaBank Deutsche Girozentrale, Frankfurt where he oversaw a loan portfolio of about EUR 9 billion and had authority for 1st credit votes of up to EUR 25 million.

Oliver started his career with Dresdner Bank AG, Hamburg (now part of Commerzbank) in September 1993, and then moved to HSH Nordbank AG, Hamburg in April 2007, with focus on the relationship management of large German corporates and international shipping and offshore drilling companies. Oliver graduated from the University of Hamburg, Germany in 1993 with a Diplom-Kaufmann (comparable to MBA) majoring in Banking and Business Law
