Josh Huck Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Southern Europe and the Caucasus U.S. Department of State Josh Huck is the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State overseeing policy for Southern Europe and the Caucasus. He previously served as Director of the Office of Southern European Affairs, covering Cyprus, Greece, Malta, and Türkiye. Since joining the Foreign Service, he has served overseas in Shanghai, Tokyo, Sofia, Rangoon, Taipei, and Hong Kong. He has served multiple assignments in Washington, D.C. including in the Office of Chinese Affairs and the Office of Korean affairs. He also served as the Chief of Staff to Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Kurt Campbell. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Johns Hopkins University, a master’s degree from the International University of Japan, and a certificate from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies in Bologna, Italy. His foreign languages are Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, Burmese, and Bulgarian.
