Georgios (“George”) Karageorgiou, started his career as a project engineer for Kassos Maritime Enterprises from 1990 to 1992.  From 1992 to March 2004, he worked in various executive positions as well as a director for Stelmar Shipping Limited, a shipping company listed on the New York Stock Exchange.  He headed its formation in 1992 and in 1993 received the first worldwide ISO certificate in shipping.  Between 1995 and 2005 Mr. Karageorgiou was also a director of easyGroup Ltd, easyJet Holdings Ltd, easyInternetCafe Ltd, easyCruise Ltd, Stelinvest Corp. and a number of other easyGroup companies.  He was a co-founder, and CEO of Globus Maritime Limited (2006-2016) and from 2011 its President as well. Since 1st January 2017 he is President and CEO of Olympic Shipping and Management S.A., the shipping arm of the Onassis Group.  Mr. Karageorgiou holds a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering and a M.E. in Ocean Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology and a M.Sc. in Shipping Trade and Finance from City University Business School. He is a member of the Board of Directors of UGS, HELMEPA, INTERTANKO, GARD and the Hellenic Mutual War Risks Association. He is also a member of DNV GL Greek National Committee, ABS, ABS Hellenic National Committee and RINA Hellenic Advisory Committee.
