James Marshall

Berge Bulk 

James Marshall is the CEO and founder of Berge Bulk Ltd. He began his career in shipping in offshore supply vessels, before moving to containers and then dry bulk. In 2007, he started Berge Bulk, purchasing 12 ships from the old Bergesen Fleet. Berge Bulk now owns a modern fleet of 82 ships with a carrying capacity of 14 million dwt. In 2022, they transported 80 million MT of cargo. Berge Bulk is leading an innovative decarbonisation program and has committed to be carbon neutral by 2025 at the latest.  

He holds a BA and MA from Cambridge University and an MBA from IMD in Switzerland. James Marshall also sits on the Lloyd’s and DNV Shipowners committees. He is Chairman of the Marshall Foundation which supports philanthropic and impact ventures in Asia and Africa as well as a trustee of Sentabale charity. He lives in Singapore.
