Luigi Mattera, Operational Director Marine Greater China Area

Luigi Mattera, born in Napoli, Italy, on April 3, 1986, is a Naval Architect and Marine Engineer graduate from the University of Napoli Federico II, currently covering the position of Director of Operations of RINA Marine Greater China area.

He began his career in the technical department of a shipping company, where he was in charge of the new building supervision projects in China.

In 2013, Luigi joined RINA in Italy, initially his responsibilities included drawing approvals, mainly in the areas of structure and stability, as well as conducting surveys onboard of ships in service.

From 2015 to 2021, Luigi was relocated to Jakarta as Head of Indonesia & Malaysia area for RINA Marine business unit, also covering the role of Director of the Company PT RINA Indonesia.
Under his management RINA rapidly growth in Indonesia and Malaysia and achieved the RO recognition from the Brunei Flag Administration.

On June 2021, Luigi Mattera continued his journey by becoming the Operational Director of RINA Greater China, based in Shanghai. 
There, he leads a team of 120 colleagues, including Senior Surveyors, Engineers, and Technical Experts, overseeing various marine activities such as surveys, plan approval & testing for new buildings and ships in service, novel technologies, passenger ships excellence center and decarbonization initiatives.
