Nikos Petrakakos Senior Advisor - Decarbonization Tufton Investment Management Nikos Petrakakos is a Senior Advisor - Decarbonization for Tufton Investment Management, spearheading new investments in zero carbon capable shipping. Nikos has played an early and instrumental role in moving the global maritime industry towards a broader acceptance and embracing of efficiency and energy transition as a tool for growth, by working with investors, lenders, shipowners, NGOs, and technology stakeholders. He uniquely blends 18 years of commercial and finance maritime background, with technical and operational know-how. Prior to Tufton, Nikos was a Partner at ARGO Capital Advisors, where he fundraised for startups in the cleantech and maritime tech space, as well as M&A and pre-IPO secondary transactions. Nikos also co-founded Ursus Maritime Capital, the first provider of Green Ship Retrofit financing. Prior to that, Nikos was Director of Investment Banking and Head of Environmental Innovation for Seabury Capital. He began his career with Oldendorff Carriers, followed by executive roles at ship managers HART Shipping, PPG Industries, CMP, and Maroon Capital Group. Nikos holds an MSc degree from MIT in Ocean Systems Management, and a BSc from Webb Institute in Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering.
