Gordon Shearer joined Poten & Partners in 2001 and served as CEO of Hess LNG (a joint venture of Hess Corporation and Poten) from 2006 to 2013. Before Poten he was the CEO of Cabot LNG Corporation which owned and operated the LNG terminal in Boston Harbor and the LNG carrier "Matthew". During this time, he was heavily involved in the creation of the Atlantic LNG project in Trinidad and Tobago. He has a B.Sc. in Geophysics from Edinburgh University, and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He was a member of the National Petroleum Council from 2005 until 2016. He is the co-author (with Michael Tusiani) of “LNG – A Non-Technical Guide” (2nd edition published September 2016) and “LNG: After the Pandemic” (published March 2023).
