Eliana Charalambous Tanos Acting Permanent Secretary of the Shipping Deputy Ministry Republic of Cyprus Eliana Charalambous Tanos holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics and Social Studies from the University of Manchester. She is a Chartered Accountant member of the ICPAC. She has wide experience in economics, finance and taxation in the private and public sector. While in the private sector she worked at Spicer and Oppenheimer in Manchester and Coopers and Lybrand in Cyprus. Since 1990 she is working for the Cyprus Tax Department and has successfully managed and organized various departments such as the Large Taxpayers, Risk, Computerization, Collection and Stamp Duty. All the big projects of Euro, Government Data Warehouse and web based computerization were planed and implemented on time and with great success by her. In 2012 she was the president of Director General Taxud in Brussels as well as the High level Working party of the European Council. Due to her technical abilities and skills she was the liaison of the Ministry of Finance to the International Monetary Fund, the US Treasury, the Tax Policy Group of the EU and the Association of Cyprus Banks. Her wide experience in matters of leadership, management, policy, and strategy formulation and implementation let to her appointment to the position of Acting Permanent Secretary of the Shipping Deputy Ministry.
