He is a Director-Coordinator in Micro- and Macro-Prudential Supervision at the Bank of Greece. He is also a Board Member and Chairman of the Audit Committee at Hellenic Petroleum (ELPE). Prior to his appointment at the central bank, he served as the Executive Vice Chairman of the Hellenic Postbank and as Group General Manager of Investment Banking and Asset Management of the Bank of Cyprus.
Previous positions include Emporiki Bank (Deputy Manager for Investment Banking, Brokerage Operations and Asset Management), EFG Telesis Finance (General Manager of Investment Banking), General Bank of Greece (Deputy General Manager), National Bank of Greece (Counselor to the Deputy Governor), the Association of Greek Banks (Advisor) and Reuters News Agency (Correspondent). He also lectured in Macroeconomics and Money and Banking in several academic institutions in the United States from 1988 until 1991.
He has completed his academic studies in the United States and Greece: Ph.D. in Economics, Washington University in St.Louis, May 1991, M.A., Economics, Washington University in St.Louis, December 1987 and B.A., Economics, University of Athens, May 1986.
