A professional with 30 years of experience in Technical shipping with practical hands-on experience at sea along with leadership roles ashore. In his position of Director, Fleet in Pacific Basin Shipping Ltd, he is responsible for the management of a fleet of 117 geared bulk carriers.


A Graduate Marine Engineer, he worked on various types of ships for over 10 years and has experience with ship construction and management.

January 2021 – present – Director, Fleet, Pacific Basin Shipping Ltd


Leading a team of over 120 professionals ashore and over 2000 seafarers on board ships to facilitate the business while ensuring highest safety standards and cost efficiency.

February 2014 – December 2020 – General Manager Technical, Pacific Basin Shipping Ltd


Managing fleet of 116 Bulk Carrier vessels to meet the business expectations of the company to deliver best in-house technical support to the crew to operate the ships and deliver industry leading KPI


  • Achieved reduction in operating costs of 6% by more efficient Management of the Fleet including 15% reduction in variable costs (excluding crewing and insurance costs)
  • Achieved 52% reduction in losses due to breakdowns and unforeseen events.
  • Spearheaded Scrubber Project to install 28 scrubbers in one year.

  • Led team of 6 Specialists in successfully completing 7 New Building vessel projects at Japan and Korea, including negotiation of key technical aspects of the ship building contracts.
  • Supervised and trained junior Superintendents in Ship Management.
  • Executed challenging dredging and reclamation project in Taiwan

  • Successfully concluded sale of 6 Bulk Carriers to various Buyers
  • Successfully Managed new building projects for 4 Bulk Carriers in Japan and Korea

 

February 1995 – November 2006 – Marine Engineer, (A. P. Moller, Chellaram Shipping, Bernhard Schulte, ESSAR Shipping)


Various duties on Board ships of different types (Bulk Carrier, Oil Tanker and Container ship) in various levels of responsibility.


  • As Chief Engineer, leading team of 8 members in engineering team on board the ships to ensure safe efficient and continuous operation of the ship.

Graduate Marine Engineer – First Class with distinction (1994) – Marine Engineering and Research Institute (now Indian Maritime University Kolkata campus)
