Prevention at Sea
Mr. Petros N. Achtypis, founder and CEO of ‘Prevention at Sea’, is a holder of an BEng MEng Diploma in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens in Greece. During his professional career, he showed a keen interest in the principles of the safety, proactiveness and prevention culture in shipping management. Mr. Achtypis holds MLC 2006 Trainer/Inspector Certificate issued by the ILO and holds both ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 Lead Auditor Certificates. He specializes in SMS simplification techniques, dry bulk pre-vetting, research and development of state-of-the-art risk assessment mechanisms, investigations and behavioural based audits.
In 2013 he established the company Prevention at Sea, an LR certified Risk Assessor and Maritime technology firm. Through its innovative projects and achievements, Prevention at Sea, managed to win two Lloyd’s List Awards within the year as well as the NAMEPA Innovation Award for 2017 and the Tanker Shipping and Trade Technical Award for 2017, Prevention at Sea was also finalist for another Lloyd’s List Innovation award in Middle East and Africa. In 2018, Prevention at Sea was finalist for the Lloyd’s List Global Awards, Safety sector. In 2019 he established the company IMMERSEAV, a firm involved in the utilization of Virtual Reality technologies in the maritime industry.
