Ever since joining Kawasaki Heavy Industries (KHI) in 1990, Tatsuya Motoi has been engaged in the development of gas carriers, starting his career in the structural designing of LNG/LPG carriers. In 2014, Motoi led initial planning and risk assessment of LNG fueled car carrier. As KHI embarked on the development of liquefied hydrogen carrier in the mid- 2010's, Motoi expanded his area of expertise in its cargo containment system as well. As he was appointed Executive Officer of Ship & Offshore Business Division at KHI in 2020, Motoi has been directing hydrogen carrier and gas fueled ship development.
