Gil-Yong Han

Before his current role as Senior Technical Manager at INTERTANKO, Mr Han was General Manager of London Branch Office of a Classification Society overseeing technical cal business development as well as undertaking ship and equipment survey and audits. Prior to this role, Mr Han was Senior Technical Officer in IACS from 1998 to 2009 where he worked on bulk carrier & tanker safety initiatives, permanent means of access and other issues arising from IMO and EU. During this time, Mr Han led an IACS team to address rogue waves and their implications within the EC research project acting as a senior advisory panel member.
Mr. Han later became Response Manager leading the IACS CSR (Common Structural Rules) Secretariat until 2009. He received Master's degree in ocean engineering and undertook research program at UCL mechanical and ocean engineering department. Prior to a classification surveyor, Mr Han worked for HANJIN Shipping as a deck officer for three years.
