Ryan Barnes is a Senior International Trade Specialist at the U.S. Department of Commerce. In this capacity, he serves as desk officer for Greece, Turkey, Romania, Cyprus, Serbia, and Macedonia, monitoring political/economic conditions and collaborating with various stakeholders to eliminate market access barriers and increase U.S. exports in these countries and throughout the region. For these efforts, he has been awarded Silver and Bronze Stars for Superior Federal Service.

Previously, he was Global Research Analyst at Risk Metrics Group and Director of Europe at the Eurasia Center. He holds a BA in Political Science from Ohio University and an MA in International Affairs from American University. A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Ryan currently resides in Washington, DC.
