Alexander (Alex) Blades

Alexander (Alex) Blades, is a partner at Paulson & Co. in New York. Since joining Paulson in 2009, he has been involved in many of the Firm’s most significant investments in distressed and other special situations. He manages the firm’s investments in Greece, including Piraeus Bank, where he has been a member of the board of directors since January 2016, and its strategy, risk, remuneration and nomination committees. Prior to joining Paulson, he was a Vice President in the leveraged finance and bank debt portfolio businesses at Goldman Sachs & Co. in New York. Previously, Alex practiced for nine years as a corporate lawyer at Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom LLP and Mayer Brown LLP, where he specialized in leveraged finance and bankruptcy transactions. Alex began his career and was raised in New Zealand. He is a graduate of Victoria University in New Zealand and the University of Chicago Law School.
