Richard Clayton has worked with Fairplay for 30 years, editing the flagship Fairplay magazine for six years until December 2013. Fairplay is now part of IHS, the Denver, Colorado-headquartered data and insight group, and has become IHS Maritime & Trade. Richard is the first Chief Maritime Analyst appointed by IHS.
The role involves liaising between IHS Maritime & Trade and the global shipping industry, and between the maritime team and IHS colleagues working in the energy, economic & country risk, chemicals, defence & security, automotive and other specialist teams. Richard writes thought leadership articles for several IHS publications (including Fairplay), presents regularly to both maritime and non-maritime audiences, and works with colleagues in Europe, the Middle East, Asia Pacific and the Americas to invite guest speakers and commentators to prestigious events.
Before editing Fairplay, he held the positions of markets editor for Fairplay and editor of Fairplay Daily News.
