Volker Heil joined Lomar in 2014. As Technical Director, he is responsible for each ship in service, including the current fleet and the many newbuilding projects which are scheduled and underway. His role encompasses the assurance of a safe and secure environment for all crews, efficient performance management and compliance as per charter requirements. He also oversees all ship inspections and dry dockings.

An experienced commercial seaman with many years in command roles, Volker began his shore career with CP Ships in 1999. With an initial remit covering the diverse fleet of 24 chartered ships, he was soon put in charge of the company's first ever newbuilding container, which at the time featured the greatest reefer plug capacity in the world. Moving to CMA CGM in 2004, Volker built up its London office and became Fleet Director at the firm's head office in Marseille, responsible for vessels up to 16,000 TEU.
