Mette Olsen is a Senior Global Advisor on Sustainability at Maersk Line, one of the world's leading container shipping companies. Since joining Maersk Line in 2009, Mette has had a leading role in defining the company's strategic direction on sustainability and shaping Maersk Line's current position in the market place. Having been responsible for driving performance across a wide number of sustainability issues - from supplier standards and human rights to local community development - she is currently focusing on commercial sustainability concepts for selected customers and new business opportunities with positive social impacts in emerging markets.
Prior to joining Maersk Line, Mette worked in a similar capacity in Novozymes, a leading provider of sustainable biotechnology solutions for industrial production. She is the author of several articles on emerging sustainability practices and an expert reviewer at California Management Review. Mette holds an M.Sc. degree in Business Adminstration and International Marketing and Management from Copenhagen Business School (Denmark) and Schulich School of Business (Canada).
