Brian graduated from the University of Plymouth in 1995 with an Honours Degree in Maritime Business and Law and then in 1996 graduated from City University London with a Masters Degree in International Shipping, Trade and Finance. Working initially in the container shipping industry working for NOL/APL and then OOCL and during 1999 started in the dry bulk freight markets working for Cargill as a freight trader in Europe and Asia. In 2006, Brian moved to Morgan Stanley Commodities in London and set up the physical dry freight trading desk to complement the banks involvement in freight derivatives and bunker hedging. In 2013, Brian left Morgan Stanley to start Lavinia Bulk Ltd as the Managing Director of the office based in London. Lavinia bulk is the chartering and commercial arm of the Laskaridis Shipping/Lavinia Corp’s dry bulk fleet comprising of 48 dry vessels from ultramax upto Newcastlemax size and Brian also trades small volumes of freight derivatives for the group. Brian is also a member of the Baltic Exchange and is a supporter for the Mission to Seafarers.
