Born in Darwin, Australia, to the descendants of Greek immigrants, Andrew N. Liveris is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The Dow Chemical Company, a global technology company focused on developing innovative solutions at the intersections of the physical, materials, polymer and biological sciences with 2014 annual sales of more than $58 billion.
A 39 year veteran of Dow and recognized global business leader, Liveris advocates the criticality of manufacturing worldwide. He is the author of Make It in America, which presents a comprehensive set of practical policy solutions and business strategies for revitalizing this important sector. He leads Dow’s collaborations with numerous governments on Advanced Manufacturing Plans and is simultaneously driving the Company’s world-class investment and industry leadership in fast-growing regions around the globe. Liveris sits on the Board of Directors of IBM, is Vice Chair of the Business Roundtable, an Executive Committee Member and past Chairman of the U.S. Business Council, and a member of the U.S. President's Export Council and the Australian government’s Industry Growth Centres Advisory Committee. He serves as a trustee for the Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow Foundation, California Institute of Technology and the United States Council for International Business. In 2012, Liveris co-founded The Hellenic Initiative (THI) to support economic renewal in Greece through entrepreneurship, business development and investment, and he serves as Chairman of the Board. In 2014, Liveris was appointed Officer of the Order of Australia for services to international business. A chemical engineering graduate and honorary doctorate recipient, Liveris continues to support his alma mater as the Inaugural Chair of The University of Queensland in America Foundation.
